A lot has been happening in the revere camp recently. The recordings from February/March are all mixed and one of them, These Halcyon Days is due to be released Oct 24th but if you’d like to hear it now you can do just that.

We will be playing a launch show for the single at Hoxton Bar and Kitchen on October 27th. Details here.

The festival season is upon us and although I’m only playing a few this year, the first one with Revere at Wychwood Festival was a great start. A nice person in the crowd filmed ‘I can’t forgive myself’ and as I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately I thought I’d share it with you.

New Recordings

After a little delay the Le Big Party EP ‘Little Licks’ was put online here at the beginning of February.

I’m currently sitting in Unity Studios, North West London, for the recording of a few new Revere tracks. So far so good but the late nights have been hitting us all pretty hard. Steve’s just about to do his vocals. I spent all of Monday sorting out my kit with Ant Theaker and recording up until 11:30pm. I’m still aching after three days. Here’s the cage of mics I was enclosed in.

I’ll provide an update on the recording as soon as we know what’s happening with it

2010 review

I suppose last year can be considered quite successful on the drum front. The Revere album finally came out and has since had mostly good reviews and was also voted number one album of 2010 in this. The band have also been offered a gig at SXSW in March 2011. The best gig of the year was definitely Standon Calling; everything seemed to fall into place that day. I also enjoyed Southsea Fest, although I lost the ability to breathe during the end rinse of the Escape Artist :s Other highlights were playing for Fly Magazine, winning Steve Lamacq’s ‘Rebel playlist’ and being featured on the front page of Myspace.

The unrecorded EP is still in the making. It was a slow year for the band with only a handful of gigs and a couple of new tracks but we’ve all been very busy with other projects. Jess Bryant has been working hard on her album, which I’m looking forward to hearing.

Le Big Party have made great progress in the latter half of the year. We played two shows but the progress came in the form of the upcoming EP, “Little Licks”. Myself and Seb have both been quite surprised with the direction the music suddenly took whilst recording the tracks. The last track (of 4) needs a little more work before mixing but we’re hoping to have it ready for our February 5th gig.

I’m not quite sure how 2011 will pan out yet but I’m looking forward to seeing the reaction the Le Big Party EP gets, getting The Unrecorded EP mixed and OUT and hopefully doing a tour or two with Revere.

Busy December

Although my last gig of the year was the 10th December with The Unrecorded, December has been made busy by the recording of a 4-track EP for my new band, LeBigParty. The drums were recorded back in November when I had one of those rare bits of “time-off” but throughout December myself and Seb Pidgeon have been working hard recording vocals, synth’s, piano’s and various other instruments in order to create something we’re both proud of. Three of the tracks are now mixed; me just have a few more parts to record before we can unvail our creation. We’ll be playing at the Zenith in Angel, London, February 5th 2011.

Revere have been playing songs by their influences to a very small amount of people, in our rehearsal studio. Its a very intimate gig, which gives us a chance to meet some of our fans in a way we wouldn’t normally get at bigger gigs. It also gives the audience an experience unlike the gigs they’d usually go to.

The first of TheRevereSessions was based on a selection of Jeff Buckley songs, there will be video’s to add to my blog in the near future. The second and more recent gig featured songs by Scott Walker and you can find videos of that session here.
